sneak peek

Close up of secret project. Such pretty yarn, I am very excited!

A word about pain. Pain sucks! Only being able to get about 4 hrs of sleep at night sucks! Back spasms suck! Enough said...I am done with that.

On a brighter note...all projects that are on the needles are coming along nicely. I am going to have to get some more Noro Silk Garden to finish the chevron scarf...oh darn...I have to go back to Knit 'n Knibble. Shucks.

The old and the new

FO: Chevron scarf.
Started: Chevron scarf, just different pattern.

crazy Noro lovin'

Today was the big birthday sale at Knit 'n Knibble. My goal was to get Noro and I got a mother load. I did go with three projects in mind and was pretty darn successful with my purchases. I was able to get 11 skeins of Noro for $102. Yeah!!!
First...

3 skeins of Silk Garden Lite in colorway 2027. These three skeins will grow up to be a narrow Clapotis. Of course this means I need to finish the Clap that is already on my needles. Which so sucks, 'cause I just want to start knitting with the lovely soft yarn.

Next...

2 skeins of Silk Garden in colorways 205 and 267. With these 2 skeins I am going to try a chevron scarf a' la Javajem's variation. She modified the famous Jaywalker sock pattern. It is lovely, thin, and long...I like!

Lastly but not leastly...

6 skeins of Kureyon for the secret afghan project. Colorways: 170, 207, 215, 175, 209, and 147. Not much to say about this project, 'cause it's a secret.

Dye Stock

These bottles are now full of dye stock. I found these at the local Dollar store which was awesome 'cause I got them for $1 each. I am going to go back and get some more since I ordered a few more dyes last night. So if Crown Mountains history is any indication, I will have them tomorrow.

I test dyed some undyed yarn I had. Which I would like to say in previous dye projects I have used this yarn as ties for the sock yarn I have dyed and it didn't typically dye completely. Actually came out looking heathered. Well...I don't know if it is the dye or what...But, WOW! It is drying right now so I will have pics later. The colors are so saturated. I am very excited. I dyed each sample skein with 100%, 50%, and 25% dye. This way I can have a good idea of the color range. OH, and BTW, the black dye...I was not expecting to get black black. I was expecting dark grey or a very dark purple. But Damn! It is black! And even the 25% is still very dark, kinda charcoal.

Monday's Socks

There is no Mondays' sock today. Well, I do have the second pomatomus on the needles but I am been so distracted with the clapotis, ripple scarf, and secret project that I have only done one row.

Good news...I got my dyes today. Can you believe I only ordered them on Saturday. I love Crown Mountain Farms. I just placed my order Saturday. Saturday!!! That is not even a whole 2 days. They are so awsome!!!

I think I am going to go make some dye stock. Next time I check in I might be red, peacock, and purple. I am kinda messy.

praise me...

Praise me for my restraint---I was going to buy yarn today---but instead, I bought blank yarn and dye. I got a pound of undyed sport weight yarn and about 7 or 8 cushing dyes. I got the basic colors like magenta, yellow, blue and black---plus a few more. I figured this way I can make my own yarn and maybe, just maybe sell it. I am very excited to start playing.

secret project pt.1

I am starting a secret project. It will be a long term project, and I might be done by winter. I am using my favorite yarn Noro Kureyon in all kinds of different colorways. Well, gotta go, just found out we have to drive to Ocala right now to pick up some Rush tickets for the concert tonight. It is about a 2 hour trip both ways and the concert starts at 8pm. Yeah, last minute, my favorite.

Monday's Socks

One Pomatomi done. This pattern which looks sooo complicated, but once you get into the rhythm of it, it is pretty darn easy. Knit out of STR in colorway Chapman Springs. I am so much love with these socks.

project stitzoid

There are times when I happy with just one project on the needles. And then there are time like these. I have 3 projects on the needles that I just could not wait to cast on.

I cast on the Misty Garden scarf from Scarf Style. I found this really great yarn from Patons called SWS, it is 70% wool and 30% soy in colorways Natural Pink and Natural Geranium. It is sooo pretty and sooo soft!

I also started a Clapotis. Which was not my fault. I was just cruising flickr one day and found that there was a flickr group for the Clapotis. All those beautiful Claps. How could I help myself. I don't really have the cash on hand right now to get some really great yarn, like Noro or something, so I got some Micro spun yarn from Lion Brand. I know, I know...but it is really soft and I have have this urge to knit with black lately. I have a few projects that I want to make in black including a sweater using cotton ease in charcoal (which is not totally black).

I am also working on the cuff of the second pomatomus sock. You can have a look at the first one tomorrow with "Monday's sock".

Oh...and I finished the wristlet to match my knitting bag.

I was playing

I was playing with my new Noro yarn. I balled it up and plunked it in a stainless steel bowl and thought "wow, look how that is reflecting" Then...when I used the flash on my camera (which I try not to do) it make it kinda glow.

Have a mentioned how much I am in love with Noro Kureyon?

Project progress: I have finished the knitting portion of the wristlet. It is currently soaking in hot water...which is part of my personal felting process. I like to soak the project in hot water before I start the felting process because I feel that it opens the fibers and I don't waist time trying to felt. I find that the felting starts quicker.

Monday's Socks and stuff

The Bamboo sock is complete and the Pomatomus has been started. This pic of the Pomatomus was taken last night and I am down to the heel flap now. The Bamboo sock is perfect. It went really quick and I didn't get 2nd sock syndrome.

Today was a great mail day. I ordered some Noro Kureyon. One of the four has been cast on to make the wristlet for my knitting bag. The other three are going to be used for Lizard Ridge blankee. I am totally in love (or obsessed...whatever) with Noro. OMG, it is just so wonderful, can you say yarn pron? Check out my flickr and see some more photos of the Noro I took today...I went a little nutty.

Rainy Day

Well, it has been raining here since about 3pm, and it looks like it will be raining for a few days. I am about were the little red arrow is pointing. So, since I have been inside today, I decided to make some DPN cases. They turned out pretty good and work very well. Next, re-line the inside of my knitting bag. I have never been happy with the lining material, it tends to grab onto things, and it is not very sturdy. So, I got me some very thick and sturdy stuff to attach to the material and I got some different material to line the bag. We will see what happens. Also I ordered some more Noro Kureyon in colorway 180 (that matches the bag) to make the wristlet for money and such. This can be carried inside my bag and if I need to just carry a small bag, I can take it out.
