knitting journal

I got inspired to create a knitting journal, not that the blog and flickr aren't doing a great job. But I thought that it would be a good idea to keep all the specs in some sort of format that would be easily accessed, and I can attach the yarn label. So...there you have it...gett'n all organized.

Monday's Socks

Finished Paul's mock rib sock, and Paul really likes them. As a matter of fact, he hasn't taken them off all day. It is really nice to know that someone really appreciates what you have made them. They are toe-up construction with short row toes and heels. I did modify the toe-up construction slightly. I have found with toe-up socks they tend to get very tight around the inset area. So, in order to loosen this area up I increased 4 stitches before beginning the heel turn. This worked out great.
I have also finished one of my bamboo socks, again toe-up and increased before the heel turn. I did redo the cuff some. I didn't like the 1x1 rib, so I have changed it since this pic to 4 purl rows. This matches the garter stitch toe and heel.
Next on the needles, Pomatomus by Cookie A.. I am going to use Chapman Springs colorway by STR. The Chapman springs colorway reminds me of the colors found in the iridescent look of fish scales, which goes along with the pattern of the Pomatomus. Only problem, I want to cast-on now, but I am waiting for my sets of #1,2, and 3 circ needles from Knit Picks. I want to try 2 socks on 2 circs. The little tiny circ needles I have been using is great but if there are not enough stitches on the needles it is really hard to knit, and you know I just don't like the ladder effect that you get with DPNs.
Also, one of my babies Chloe nawling on a bone.

Ereka!

I have been searching for magazine organizers and baskets to organize my craft room. I am have not started on the room yet, but I am planning and collecting things to make life easier. Well, any back to the organizers. I can't seem to find any in the colors I want, which are turquoise, red, and browns. I seem to gravitate to the those colors all the time. So that is the color choices for my room. Anyway, I have decided to just get unpainted and colored pieces and paint them myself. This is such an easy way to do it and I don't know why I didn't think of it earlier. You know they make spray paint and regular paint for all kinds of different surfaces these days, so I don't think it will be any problem Squeeeee! I am so excited.

Room progress

Well, I went through my closet like a storm. I am giving any clothes that I haven't worn in 6 months to a women's shelter. I also had two book shelves in this room which I have now sorted in piles of "throw away stuff", "give to book trader store" and "keep". We also took the curtains down and the crafty stuff on the shelves and removed the shelves. Next...oh I don't know...I need to move almost everything out and move the dresser. Oh, I it looks like we really wore Gilbert out.

I may be mad

Well...here we go. I was inspired by Miss Violet's "mission possible" when she cleaned out her studio. My plans reorganize the dressing room. This will start tomorrow by going to Target and getting some hangers, and two dirty clothes hampers. I plan to get ride of lots of clothes that I just don't wear anymore. I cleaned out my closet about a year ago and didn't get rid of everything, thinking that I would wear them again. I didn't, so they are going to go to Salvation Army. There are two dresser in this room, one for me...one for Paul. I want to move than to either side of the large closet. Did I mention that this room has two closets. That is nice. I am then going to put the two hampers on the wall were one the dressers are, getting the dirty clothes off the floor. You know, now that I think about it...if I am going to get ride of lots of clothes, then why would I need more hangers? I will get them anyway, you never know. I will give myself Saturday and Sunday to do this. Update pics should come on Monday. Don't guess I will be doing much knitting this weekend. Hahahaha, who am I kidding? I can always squeeze in knitting.

Daphne on her way!

Daphne has been shipped! Yeah!!!

tagged!

I have tagged for 7 random facts meme by Shannon. So her is how it works...
Each player starts with 7 random facts/habits about themselves. People who are tagged need to write on their own blog about their seven things, as well as these rules. You need to choose 7 people to get tagged and list their names. Don’t forget to leave them a comment telling them that they have been tagged and to read your blog!

Here it goes, which is easier said than done.

1. My eyes close when I laugh or smile really big. I can still see, but people tell me that they can't see my eyes. I am told this is cute. I personally don't like it 'cause I don't think pics turn out looking anything but cute, and sometimes you don't want to look "cute" all the time.

2. I suck at math. My mom is a CPA, my grandmother was a math teacher, and my dad just has an innate ability to geometry and stuff. I think in early childhood my parents recognized that I was not going to be as book smart as they are and therefore did not downgrade me for this. They did of course encourage me and were always supportive, but not pushy to be just like them.

3. My mom taught me to sew when I was 6 or 7. I was sewing up Barbie clothes and anything else I could. I have always done artsy fartsy/crafty watsy stuff. My hobbies have been...sewing, which I still do; pottery, jewelry, polymer clay, stamping, and of course knitting. Knitting has been the only hobby that has really stuck. I still do some of the other hobbies here and there but they usually revolve around knitting projects, such as sewing up a linning for a felted bag.

4. I have dreams of selling my dyed yarn. I have played around with dying yarn with good results so far. I have been dyeing with kool-aid and wilton icing dye with pleasing results, but I think it is time I moved to big girl dyes. My next big purchase will probably be a large amount of sport weight blank yarn and cushing or one-shot dyes. I don't aspire to be some big deal dyer, just would like to get some work out there. I like the dying process, but there is only so much yarn I can keep around the house before the animals and husband stage revolt.

5. I have watched the behind the scene footage from Lord of the Rings more times than I have watched the actual movie. I like to multitask. I knit, surf blogs, watch behind the scenes of Lord of the Rings, and listen to podcast.

6. I wish I like tomatoes. I think they are so pretty on food and in food. They small so good, but YUK. I have tried many different ways to eat them, but no, not going to happen. I guess that is kinda weird to want to eat a food that you can't stand the taste of.

7. I have only been to 3 concerts in my 33 years. I saw the Cranberries when I was younger, and I have seen Yani twice. BUT, I am going to see TOOL on May 31st. Wow, what a culture shock, I am sure. I am really looking forward to it. This is all thanks to my husband who is a little obsessed with TOOL and Danny Carey.

Okay so who will be tagged?
Carrie
Hannah
Elli
Fuzzy Noodle Knits
I am having a hard time at this. It is hard to find bloggers who have not already been tagged. I think I am going to stop here, If you read this and want to participate, let me know and I will add you to my list.

FO

Yet another bag for knitting and to use as a purse. This time I made this perfect for my needs. My plan is to make a small wristlet for money and such to slide inside of the bag made from the same Noro Kureyon colorway. Now I don't have to carry a purse and a knitting bag. It is not so big that it looks like I am carrying a suitcase, but it does have enough room for two sock projects a notion case a small wristlet and my ipod. I have ordered the Daphne the Dolphin notion case from Scout Swag. It is so cute! I am very excited.

I have been tagged for the 7 random facts meme. I will post these tomorrow.

How evil are you

You Are 56% Gross

You're more than a little gross, but probably no more gross than the average person.
Maybe it's time to drop some of those disgusting habits that could eventually embarrass you!

socks!!!

Started knitting mine and Paul's socks. Here is a close-up of the bamboo pattern I am using. It has so far been a fairly easy knit. I have heard a lot about the Socks that Rock inside out sock and that it had a garter stitch pattern on the toes and heels. I decided I could do this with out a pattern by simply knitting every row for the short row toe. I am liking this technique very much. I just like the way it feels. I am also using this for Paul's sock as well.
In other news...Feagan and Angela are the Proud owners of Kona Coffee in Lakeland. There coffee is so great! My fav is the corn beef sandwich and the frozen mocha which is made with ice cream.
I have also updated my flickr with many photos.

I is Married Now!

Yes, that is me and Paul with Chip from the Chip and
Dale Duo. We were at the Chip n' Dale sing along at Fort Wilderness campground in Disney World. We had such a great time! It was so relaxing and fun. We have made plans to do this every year for our anniversary.
We arrived Saturday and set up the RV. Later that night we headed to Disney Marketplace to have dinner at Captain Jack's with our very good friends Feagan and Angela. This turned out not so good, after waiting 1 1/2 hrs for our seat we found that they only offered 5 or 6 entrees and only 2 of them were seafood. We quickly left and went to Joe's crab shack in the Lake Buena Vista area. This was a great place.
Sunday, we went shopping and then later that night we took part in the Extra Magic Hours at the Magic Kingdom. The Magic Kingdom was open until 1am for guest staying at any of the Disney resorts.
Monday, Oh Monday! We were out of bed by 7am and getting ready and heading out to the Magic Kingdom for our Keys to the Kingdom tour. This was amazing. It is a 4 1/2 to 5 hour walking tour of backstage and secrets of the Magic Kingdom. We even went into the Utilidors, which are the tunnels under the Magic Kingdom. We went backstage and saw the parade floats. It was amazing.
Tuesday we headed to MGM for "Lights, Motor, Action". What an amazing show!
Wednesday was our day to relax at Fort Wilderness campground. We rented a golf cart and a small 2 seater speed boat that we took on a spin around Bay Lake and the Seven Seas Lagoon. Which is the lake in front of the Magic Kingdom.
Thursday was our last day. We packed up and waited for my parents to get to the campground, they are staying until Sunday. We went to EPCOT and road Soarin and Mission Space. I loved, loved, loved Soarin! I hate, hate, hate Mission Space.
We then left and headed home. Yes, I did cry when leaving Fort Wilderness, we just had such a great time!
I will add pics to my flicker page within the next few days.

Vanishing Act

I am not purposely trying to be absence from this blog. I am simply knitting my fingers to the bone, and it is really hard to type without any flesh on your fingers. I am trying to get two sweaters done before my honeymoon which starts Saturday. Yes...that is right Saturday. I did complete the Sizzle pattern (I will post pics later). I was actually about 3" too big, and I had gauge. Well, because time does not allow for frogging and rekniting...I put that baby through the serger and sewed up the sides about an 1 1/2 half on each. This also meant that I had to take in the arm holes also, again I sewed it up. It does not look the best on the inside, but the sweater looks great when I put it on. The Crisp Rectangle tunic from Fitted Knits is partially done. The front is complete and the back is about half complete. Once the back is complete I will still need to do the sleeves, top and bottom edges...oh crap...I need buttons. Well, back to the knitting.
