RSC January
I was really tripping out on Friday when I found out that people only 20 miles away had already gotten there Rockin' Sock Club shipments. Did the payment not go through? Did it get lost? Did something go wrong? This is my very first yarn club. So I am new to this. Then I drove into the driveway Saturday night and there on the porch was my club shipment. I was so excited. The color is so pretty. I love the folder, dyer notes, shoes to sock measurement chart, and the pattern. I plan on taking the shoe to sock measurement chart and putting it on a little card to be laminated with my friends and family's measurements. So...if you would like to see the Dancing Dragon check out my flickr.

It's all in the name
What should I call my room? One of the spar bedrooms is now my craft room. I do not like the word "craft" it make me think of tacky little granny things. No that those things do not have a place...okay, anyway. I have also thought of calling it the "project" room or "studio". I like "Studio", but um, I tend to think of an artist studio. Which I think would be great if I was an artist, but I don't know if I consider myself an artist. Lets see, You know I like calling it a Studio. Okay, it is a studio. I like the fact that it is one word also makes it easier when referring to the room. So here are some in progress pics of the "Studio". On my flickr I was still calling it a "project room".

Gauging
Decided to gauge my ears. Here is a pic of the process. The piercer was only able to go to a 14 at this time, but my goal is a 4.

long post...just really inspired.
Knitting: Annie Modesitt is so freaking cool! Just saying. I was watching some back episodes of Knitty Gritty. She was showing her combination style of knitting. So, I decided to try it. Dude, seriously, love! The fabric created is so nice and even. The stitches are slightly smaller but they look great. It just makes sense once it is set up. Try it, you might like it too. Started a couple new projects even though I told myself not to. I am just kinda bored with my current projects. The baby surprise jacket did get completed though, all it needs is buttons. So, at this time I have...Ummm...let see....7 projects on the needles and one projects that still needs mods made to the sleeve. Oh well...what can you do? The yarn has been calling to me, how can I resist? The above swatch is for the Oblique cardigan from Knitty fall 2007 issues. So, the pattern calls for heavy worsted weight yarn. I bought heavy worsted weight yarn. Pattern calls for size 7 needles. As you can see it is good to do a swatch. I ended sizing up to size 10. I think part of it was the combination style knitting and maybe my yarn just wasn't heavy enough. But I did end up getting gauge, the fabric looks great and that is all that matters.
Photography: I am going out tomorrow after cleaning the house to do some photography. Little nervous, but I am going to just try to be natural. I don't want to try to force a photo to happen. Also, working on learning Adobe Photoshop CS2. I have been kinda playing with it since Thursday and downloaded some podcast tutorials. This program is pretty intense. I am really excited about what it can do. The above photo was taken inside the coffee shop which has horrible lighting. One of the tutorials was on color correction and I used it on this photo. It was very easy, but I had to follow along with the tutorial when correcting the first photo.

Art: Went to Pearl art supply store today with our new friend Johanna. We had such a great time. I got some more stamp carving material and wire. I want to try to knit with wire. Johanna and I also talked about working with Precious Metal Clay. I have worked with it before but she has not. It is really great stuff, a little hard to work with but that is okay it produces some really fun and awesome silver pieces.
I am so inspired right now. So much to creating, so little time.

Look what followed Paul home
Paul brought home his Beetle. He has had it for about 10 years but it has been sitting at some storage thing. He is very excited to have a place to be able to work on it now and has all kinds of great ideas to make it really cool. Am I upset about it...heck no. I think it is great, I am looking forward to seeing what he can do with it.

01-12-08
When you come home from the LYS with a garbage bag full or yarn, it was a good trip. I say trip because I usually have to drive about an hour to a yarn store. This one was in Dunedin which is a little over an hour away. They are going out of business and everything is 50% off. I will put all my acquisitions on my flickr and Ravelry if you want to take a look. OOOh baby, I got at 2 sweater's, 5 scarves, and some Noro that I am not sure what I am going to do with yet.

Sad
Good thoughts to all involved in the I-4 70 vehicle pileup today. This happened this morning at about 5am due to smoke and fog. This particular part of I-4 is low lying and tends to have issues with fog anyway, but this morning due to a "controlled" burn which was not control 4 people have lost there lives. Why didn't they close that portion of the highway? This is what I want to know. visibility was only about 10 feet. Why didn't Florida Highway Patrol think it was necessary last night to close this portion of the highway. Well, I am thinking we need to rethink there ability to make good decisions. And whose idea was it to do a controlled burn when it is so dry around here, and so windy. I am no scientist, but I would think it would be best to do these things in the rainy season so that when they do get out of control there will be a little help from nature. Just saying!
Anyway, my thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the one lost today to this ignorance.

So, believe it or not I used to be a pretty good photographer. This is something that I have really been longing to get back into. Problem, I should have bought a better camera. Anyway, it is not the equipment, but the photographer. It is so weird when I think about photographing again I am intimidated by my own self. I was told many times as a student that I had a great eye, and I had my own style that was notable. This is not to toot my own horn, but to say that what if I can't be as good as I used to be. What if I am disappointed in myself. I just have to get out there and do it.
